I finally got around to playing RE2 remake. It was great! I love survival horror and I think they did a spectacular job with the design of the game, especially instilling a tone of constant, low-grade fear: did you forget to check that body?
The effects are so gooey and there are so many little touches, like the zombie cop angrily banging on the vending machine. Or the man sitting up, head bowed down the hall -- is he dead???
I loved Marvin Branagh, and the tension he sets up. He's saved your life and he's a lifeline, helping you against the zombies. But as time goes on, you're more and more afraid of him dying, too...
I'm so impressed with the way the game executes on zombie survivor tropes in a way that feels believable and completely dread-inducing. RE2 Leon is so different from RE4 Leon, he really feels like a goodhearted (and naive) rookie cop!
"Yeah, 'WELCOME LEON"! Bet you had a kickass first day."
