Speaking of Carrion, The Thing is one of my favorite John Carpenter movies. Isolation horror, practical effects, and a creepy monster. I recently watched a rundown of all of John Carpenter's movies, and there were several I hadn't watched yet, so perhaps I will. I also have a fondness for The Fog!
